Here’s what you can expect at the Siargao International Marathon: Run for Mangroves

Run for fun and help protect the Philippine island's lush mangrove forest!

Calling all runners, fitness enthusiasts, and environment advocates: the Siargao International Marathon: Run for Mangroves is on its third year and is looking for participants.

Run for fun and help protect the mangrove trees at one of the world’s best islands on July 13 starting from the Numancia Elementary School Grounds in the town of Del Carmen. Bonus points: immerse yourself in a picturesque view of the lush coastline across three towns in Siargao while completing the race.

Register by July 10 for any of these categories:

You can choose between these categories and registration fees:

  • 42k (starts 5:00AM) = PHP2,200
  • 21k (starts 5:20AM) = PHP1,800
  • 5k (starts 6:00AM) = PHP800

The race kits can be claimed at the Sayak Airport between July 11 and 12, 2019 from 7:00AM until 5:00PM.

As part of conservation efforts, runners are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottle on race day. One mangrove tree will be also planted in behalf of each participant.

More post-run fun

After the run, a night of party and music dubbed ‘Marajaw Siargao’ will be held for the participants, while the mangrove tree-planting will take place on July 14.
