Tucked away on the top floor of a nondescript industrial building along Singapore’s Kallang River, Kilo Lounge is strictly for those in the know. Its location is so obscure that you first have to walk for almost 400m down a side road before riding a manually operated, graffiti-covered cargo lift – only then will you emerge into a capacious, industrial-themed space, where hipsters rub shoulders and sip on inventive cocktails.
However, the biggest secret here is perhaps the Lounge’s food. Forget the usual bar grub (read: chicken wings and truffle fries) you get at other watering holes; instead, the menu here reads like something you’d find at an upscale restaurant. Expect creative Asian-fusion plates like Coconut Curry Chicken Puff ($21), Furikake Popcorn with Jalapeño Honey ($9), Truffled Tai Yuzu Roll ($27) and – our personal fave – Wasabi Tuna Tartare ($26), which is served with wanton chips.
Still not persuaded? Every Thursday, the lounge offers 1-for-1 deals on selected housepours, wines and beers, and a 25% discount on bar bites. So rally your friends for a great night out and savor some delectable bar bites, as well as the knowledge that you’re now privy to one of the best-kept secrets in town.
