Four Festivals To Best Experience Autumn in Nagoya, Japan

A fall foliage festival checklist for Nagoya, Japan, to better celebrate nature showing off.

The Obara Shikizakura Four-season Cherry Blossom Trees Festival

The Obara Shikizakura Four-season Cherry Blossom Trees Festival just outside Nagoya city in Japan celebrates one of the rarest sights in all of Japan. Anchored in Toyota City — in and around Obara Fureai Park — the festival offers people an awe-inspiring opportunity to behold vibrant autumn shades, interspersed with the vivid pink of cherry blossoms. It’s worth going for the ’gram shot alone

Runs until November 30. Obara Fureai Park, Toyota City,

The Korankei Maple Festival

The Korankei Maple Festival sees things leveled up with a nightly illumination of the maple trees in Korankei Park. The park is home to around 4,000 trees that become ablaze in an eye-catching red hue. Visitors can enjoy tea parties, traditional Japanese drumming performances and more

Momotaro Momiji Dengaku Festival

Momotaro Momiji Dengaku Festival comprises a series of ticketed programs — experienced by boat (Nov 15–29) or bus (Nov 17–18 and 23–25) — planned around the appreciation of maple leaves. The festival takes place in the region’s most picturesque valley, and includes the chance to eat momiji dengaku, a maple leaf delicacy glazed with miso sauce.

Runs until December 3. Momotaro Park, Inuyama City,

Jakkoin Autumn Leaves Festival

Jakkoin Autumn Leaves Festival is a free event that celebrates the dramatic changes in color of the maple woods around Jakkoin Temple. You can also see a rakugo (traditional Japanese verbal entertainment) performance.
