The Las Piñas Bamboo Organ may be almost 200 years old (it turns 197 this year), but that doesn’t stop it from keeping up with the times. The 46th International Bamboo Organ Festival will be held online this year, in response to travel and social gathering restrictions due to the pandemic.

The three-day concert is now scheduled for March 5 to 7, 2021, every evening at 8 p.m (+8 GMT), and will be livestreamed on the festival’s Facebook page and Youtube channel. The concerts are open to everyone and will be free of charge.

The virtual concert will allow viewers to enjoy the concert with a uniquely close view of the one-of-a-kind bamboo organ, as played by Prof. Armando Salarza.

The 46th annual Bamboo Organ Festival will also feature guests Luc Ponet from Belgium, the organist of the Basilica of Tongeren, Belgium’s oldest city; Swiss organist and composer Guy Bovet; and organist and conductor Jennifer Pascual, who is also the director of music at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Also performing will be Villancico Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Beverly Shangkuan-Cheng, president of the Philippine Choral Directors Association.
