Calling all young travel enthusiasts: Cebu Pacific wants YOU! The Juan for Fun challenge is back for 2019, and the search is on for nominees until July 10.
Nominate yourself, your friends or your relatives at juanforfun.ph if:
- you’re a student (aged 18 to 24 years old)
- you’re a resident of the Philippines
- you have a passion for travel
- you have an amazing story to tell
Cebu Pacific is looking for all kinds of inspiring stories: whether you’re an environmentalist, a survivor, an adventurous spirit, or even a first-time traveler. The criteria for judging is 60% story and 40% personality. Read more about the life stories of previous winners here on Smile’s website.
Bespoke and eco-friendly
Now on its eight year, Cebu Pacific’s Juan for Fun challenge selects five young travelers to send on a seven-day, all-expense-paid trip around the Philippines. The winners can expect a mix of “gastronomic and adrenaline-pumping” activities that will “serve as their jump-off point into a world of self-discovery” — well beyond the four walls of a classroom.
“This is a great opportunity of a lifetime for students to see the Philippines and have an enriching experience across the country,” said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific Vice President for Marketing and Distribution.
Each winner gets to choose two travel buddies to join them on their week-long trip, which will be tailor-made to suit their travel personality, advocacy, hobbies, and their own dream destinations around the Philippines. A special prize will be awarded to one of the winners, based on the course of their seven-day journey.
The trips will also focus on environmentalism in line with Juan Effect, Cebu Pacific Air’s sustainable tourism program. More than just ticking things off their bucket list, the winners will learn to make simple pledges at juaneffect.com/learn to help preserve the beauty of the Philippines’ most popular island destinations.
Meet the travel coaches
Prominent and seasoned travel experts will help the chosen Juans prepare for an adventure of a lifetime. This year’s ‘travel coaches’ include Becoming Filipino vlogger Kyle “Kulas” Jennermann, model and vlogger Mikael Daez, TV host Joyce Pring and travel writer Jude Bacalso, who writes frequently for Smile. (Ed note: #represent!)
“(Everyone) should go and travel — you’ll realize that diversity is beautiful, and you’ll soon find out that the Philippines is a hundred countries in one,” Jennermann said at the event launch when asked about how travel has impacted their lives.
Hurry and join now: you or your friends could be the next Juan!
