Handwashing remains one of the simplest ways to keep germs away. Do it regularly and especially before, during and after handling and eating food; before and after caring for someone who is sick with vomiting or diarrhea; before and after treating a cut or wound; after using the toilet; after changing a child’s diaper or cleaning him up in the toilet; after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; and after touching garbage.

Keep an alcohol-based hand rub on hand.

Alcohol and hand sanitizers are your go-to’s when soap and running water are not immediately available. Remember to let the hand rub dry on your skin after application, and wash your hands as soon as you can.

Practice proper cough etiquette.

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throw your used tissue away as soon as possible. If tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or the inside of your elbow — not your hands.

Keep your distance.

Stay at least three to six feet away from people you meet outside your home. Picture you and the other person with both arms stretched out — that’s how far you should be standing away from one another.  Changi Airport also helps remind kids to practice social distancing with these inventive “wings” that they could decorate themselves and run around with. Clever — and fun!
