Balikan Ang Pilipinas, a newly launched campaign from the Department of Tourism, is aimed at the overseas Filipino community, urging them to travel to the Philippines and visit the destinations they’ve missed back home.
“With the campaign, we welcome our balikbayans back home, who now have the opportunity to be together with their families and friends. This is the chance for them to create new memories while visiting destinations that are now open and safe for tourists.” DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a press release from the DOT.
She adds, “This is the main reason why the DOT has focused on establishing and promoting safe tourism under the new normal. We’re enforcing stringent safety protocols so that we can resume tourism activities sooner, while ensuring the protection of everyone.”
The Balikan Ang Pilipinas campaign is accompanied by a video of the song “Mundo” by IV of Spades, performed by the Loboc Children’s Choir and Mikey Amistoso of the band Ciudad.
The video is the latest in a series released by the DOT to encourage domestic tourism — telling travelers that the industry supports communities all over the Philippines, all while reminding them of safety protocols to keep in mind.
The Balikan Ang Pilipinas campaign aims to inform Filipino travelers what to expect and prepare for their return home. The campaign, which runs through March 2021, includes unique tour packages and an online event for balikbayans.
